![]() I have Webroot's Window Washer which can clean slack space at pretty secure levels (DOD, NSA, etc), but I don't think it can reformat the drive, just cleanup deleted stuff. That seems to me like that should not be the case for a slave drive, I don't need to have it as a boot drive. I keep seeing info on the web that discusses having FDISK with a floppy boot disk. ![]() Otherwise you can just install windows and use windows update to find drivers for your hardware. Using the backup feature of XP was such a useful app. I did a reformat and install a few months ago. Will that wipe out all the data/system files from the old drive and make it usable as a backup drive? I agree with backing up to a second drive. Can I simply right-click on the drive letter icon in Win Explorer and select "Format"? I would like to have all the files on the old/slave drive wiped out completely.
